The Detroit Red Wings have informed rival teams they will match any offer sheet for 23-year-old Swedish defenseman Simon Edvinsson, according to reports. The Red Wings have approximately $18 million in cap space and have been advised to reserve at least $12 million to counter potential offers, while Edvinsson's contract is projected around $8.7 million to $10 million annually on a long-term deal.
