Derek Lalonde was named associate coach of the Montreal Canadiens on July 20, 2026, as announced by hockey operations president Jeff Gorton. Lalonde previously served as an assistant coach for the Tampa Bay Lightning from 2018 to 2022, helping the team win the Stanley Cup in 2020 and 2021, and as head coach of the Detroit Red Wings from 2022 to 2024 before joining the Toronto Maple Leafs as an assistant coach for the 2025-2026 season.
