Campbell retires from NHL after 8 seasons
Jack Campbell, a 34-year-old goalie, announced his retirement from the NHL after eight seasons, with his last appearance coming in five games for the Edmonton Oilers during the 2023-24 season before being placed on waivers. Campbell had signed a five-year, $25 million contract with Edmonton in July 2022, signed with the Detroit Red Wings on July 1, 2024, but never appeared in a game for them, playing 14 games for their AHL affiliate in Grand Rapids. Campbell stated he will pursue a career as an identity and performance coach.
