Eddie Joyal, an undrafted forward who played nine NHL seasons for the Red Wings, Maple Leafs, Kings, and Flyers, died Monday at age 86. Joyal scored the game-winning goal for Detroit in Game 5 of the 1964 Stanley Cup Final against Toronto, though the Maple Leafs won the series in seven games. He recorded 262 points in 465 regular-season games across his NHL career.

Joyal was one of those unheralded types who made his own way in the League. Reminds me of many players from my day, not highly touted but always gave their all. Great to see an old-timer like him get some recognition after passing on.
