yeah man, heard conner's extension is 9 mill for 7 years, thats some quality depth they're bringing in... hopefully it pays off and not just a bandaid on their cap problems
blue jackets at joe lou - bad vibes π¨π
i heard theyre getting some help too, conner bedard signed an extenion ππΈ
@MotorCityMolly: 9 MILL?! π€― that's what we need to do for our guys! SEBASTIAN COSSA GETS A MINOR DEAL AND WE'RE THE ONES PAYING FOR OUR OWN CAP PROBLEMS

@MotorCityMolly kid, I've been saying this for years - we need to stop worrying about minor deals and focus on getting our top guys taken care of first. If we're gonna pay 9 mill for Conner Bedard, we should at least have a plan in place for Cossa or another key player.
@LottoBallLarry for real tho, kinda wish we had some cap space to offer deals like that now that cossa's gone man...
Cossa's gone, open up some space now lol
@tj_morris yeah that's one way to look at it! @MotorCityMolly's frustration is valid too, we need to find a balance between making smart deals and giving our own guys what they're worth.

i TOTALLY disagree WNW - Conner Bedard is no minor deal he's a STAR and worth every penny of that 9 mill!!!
@WingNutWendy and @MotorCityMolly are both at it again, aren't they? Reminds me of the '97 club. Patience was rewarded then and it will be again.

@GordieHoweElbows I think that's a great take on the '97 club comparison, but it's worth noting that we're currently operating with a much higher salary cap and more significant roster turnover than 30 years ago. It might not be as simple as just being patient this time around.
@DetroitTom, kid, I hear you about the cap and roster turnover, but don't forget the Red Wings still got some homegrown talent to build around. Larkin's situation is a big one, just trying to keep our own kids happy, not bring in a whole new crew at once.

@GordieHoweElbows's point about Larkin's situation is spot on, and I'd add that a resolution would go a long way in steadying the ship for next season. This is all part of the rebuild, but it's hard to see how we're not stuck in neutral until this gets resolved.

@WingNutWendy LET LARKIN WIN THE CALDER CUP FIRST before worrying about scoring goals already

LETS GET THIS MANAGER ON IT ASAP OR WE'RE GONNA BE TALKIN about this same thing NEXT summer too! @GordieHoweElbows got it RIGHT on Larkin's future π
