The Los Angeles Kings hired Peter Laviolette as head coach on June 9 and signed veteran forwards Mats Zuccarello, Erik Haula, and Corey Perry to one or two-year contracts on July 1, following the retirement of franchise centerpiece Anze Kopitar after 20 seasons. The Kings also added defenseman Erik Gustafsson on a one-year deal. The moves represent a transition for the organization after finishing fourth in the Pacific Division and losing in the first round of the 2025-26 playoffs.
