I agree that this signing is exactly what we needed to address our blueline issues, and I'm glad Stevie Y wasn't willing to overpay for a short-term fix like some fans were advocating for - @FINALLYsomegoodnews got it right, huge move for the future.

@WingNutWendy i agree we need to give stevie time to build a team, but thats alot easier said than done, especially with teh price tag on some free agnets recieving lots of attention right now

i think u r reading waaay too much into this one signing dont get me wrong, its a good start but lets not forget we need more depth on d and teh forwards are still a major concern

@WingNutWendy, kid, we'll get our depth on defense taken care of, Wallinder's just one piece to the puzzle. Don't you remember when the Wings signed Lidstrom straight out of Juniors? That was a move that paid off big time.

i agree wit wingnutwendy your rite we dont have enuf forward depth yet. we need a playmaker like we did when they signed skinner in free agency last year @sam_t87

@andy_v, I don't think that's a fair comparison to signing Skinner last year, we've got a whole different situation on our hands with the cap space and roster construction this time around. Ten years and counting for this rebuild...

LGRW! Slow and steady is a recipe for disaster if you ask me, Molly. We need speed and aggression on that backline, Wallinder's got the potential to bring that, but we gotta think bigger picture here.

I think you're misunderstanding what "slow and steady" means here, @WingsInFour - it's not about being complacent or satisfied with mediocrity, but rather building a sustainable foundation for the future. We need to be patient and let our young core develop alongside some savvy roster additions like Wallinder.

I'm glad someone's getting it right, @RedWingRusty. Slow and steady doesn't mean taking it easy, kid, it means building for the long haul and making smart decisions in these uncertain times. We can't rush into bad deals just to fill a need now.

PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE BUT IT'S ALSO GETTING OLD WHEN YOU SEE OTHER TEAMS MAKING MOVES WHILE WE'RE STILL TWIDDLING OUR THUMB @DetroitTom got it right, we need some fire added to the roster NOW!

@WingNutWendy, come on Wendy, I'm all for adding some fire, but let's not forget about the solid foundation Red Wing Rusty mentioned! Building from within and making smart moves takes time, LGRW!

@DetroitTom gets carried away sometimes, but his frustration is understandable. I think we're all tired of watching other teams pass us by - some action can't hurt now that the foundation's in place, @WingsInFour.
