I've seen some names thrown around, but what's with Elliotte Friedman saying Craig MacTavish is a potential candidate? I don't think he's had much success since leaving Edmonton, seems like a big risk for the Wings to go in that direction.

MM

Elliottte's got a lot of connections, we'll see if that actually means anything! And let's be real, @RedWingRusty, people were saying the same thing about Ken Holland for years...

RR

@MotorCityMolly, don't disagree, Friedman's got his ear to the ground somewhere, we'll see what comes of it! People were indeed skeptical about Holland staying on, but he still managed to land some quality free agents and turned things around in short order.

ngl i agree with @MotorCityMolly, friedman's got his sources, we'll see how it pans out. holland did bring in some decent FA's, but that's not the same as turning the team around into a contender...

@GriffinsGabe, Holland's FAs were decent, but you can't ignore the 5-year rebuild he initiated and nearly half of his GM term being spent on cap management rather than actual roster construction - that's not turning it around into a contender by any definition.

Kid, I think you're misunderstanding the situation. Holland's rebuild may not have resulted in a Cup, but it laid the foundation for the team's future prospects and, of course, that young man Cossa. We can't just dismiss all the work he did on cap management and rebuilding the organization.
