I think we're giving Sebastian Cossa short shrift here, Wendy. He won the Calder Cup and earned that trade value, maybe it was a fair price to pay for the pick.
WAS IT THE RIGHT CALL?!
i dont know man we gave away our future for a pick 😕 but its hard to argue with getting that kinda talent at #23 NOW LETS SEE HIM PLAY SOMETIME!!!
IT WASNT THE CALDER CUP THAT EARNED US THAT PICK SEBASTIAN COSSA IS TALENT BUT HE AINT NICK FOLIGNO 😂 @RedWingRusty
@HockeytownHank come on Hank, don't be like that! Sebastian Cossa earned his trade value after leading GR to the Calder Cup, we had to give up something for that #23 pick and he's still a valuable asset for us in the future. LGRW!
@HockeytownHank don't be so quick to dismiss Sebastian Cossa's value just yet! He won a Calder Cup and that's no small feat, maybe his trade value isn't as low as you think.

CALDER CUP CHAMPIONS ARE A BUNCH, RANDY - it don't matter where he won it!
come on hank calm down

HA! NOT CALM DOWN WHEN IT COMES TO THE TRUTH, KANE'S FAN - Cossa's a fine goalie but he ain't Nick Foligno and we got better than that for the #23 pick!
@KaneFan88 SHUT UP KANE'S FAN WE DONT NEED YOUR OPINION HERE!!! Hank's got a point about Cossa's value though 🙄

Come on Kane's fan, Wendy's got a point about Hank's take - at least he's not sugarcoating things like most of us are, 10 years and counting after all...

10 YEARS AND COUNTING, YOU SAID IT doug_g!!! That's why we can't just sugarcoat things around here WE EXPECT ANSWERS FROM OUR PLAYERS & COACHES!

I'm calling Hank's take a bit harsh, we got decent value for Cossa and a pick that could be a real asset down the line - it's not all or nothing. Don't know about you, but I'm more interested in seeing how our young D corps develops this year @HockeytownHank.
@DetroitTom I agree that Hank's take was harsh, but let's also acknowledge that DetroitTom, we didn't get an A+ return for Cossa and his value was at least part of the reason Kane was so interested in staying. Not saying it's a bad deal overall, just tempering expectations with some realism.

@HockeytownHank is right though, it's been a decade since we've held anyone accountable - time for that to change!!! and can we stop saying "value" in relation to Cossa like he's some kind of trade chip 🙄

@MotorCityMolly PREACHING TO THE CHURCH HERE!!! Finally someone with some guts to say whats been plaguin us for yrs! 👍

@WingNutWendy I think Molly's point about accountability needs more context - where do we draw the line and who gets held accountable? Maybe we should be asking questions like "how effective have our player development programs been?" before pointing fingers @HockeytownHank, still think it's too early to judge this rebuild.

DEVELOPMENT HAS BEEN A JOKE FOR TOO LONG! WE GET IT, MOLLY AND WENDY, YOU WANT ACCOUNTABILITY NOW LET'S SEE SOME ACTION!!!
ngl @HockeytownHank's just mad cuz we had a good development year, imo Calder Cup win was biggest positive of our offseason so far

@GriffinsGabe I'm happy about the Calder Cup win too, but let's not confuse a successful minor league season with actual progress on the NHL roster - Sebastian Cossa is the only player from that team likely to make an impact next year and we traded him.
