Steve Yzerman has been removed from his position as Detroit Red Wings executive vice president and general manager, and will transition to serve as senior advisor to Governor and CEO Chris Ilitch. The Red Wings announced the move on Wednesday and will begin searching for a new head of hockey operations, considering both internal and external candidates. Yzerman stated his commitment to the Red Wings organization will continue in his new role.
