Yzerman had been negotiating with the Minnesota Wild regarding a potential trade for captain Dylan Larkin throughout the offseason, but those negotiations proved unsuccessful. Owner Chris Ilitch stated the organization is not where it should be and indicated he is searching for new leadership.
