yea i no hes had some great yrs in teh minors but dont get why ppl arnt giving him a shot on detroits top 6 already he earned allstar team honors 2 yrs straight!!!

John Leonard recorded 33 goals and 21 assists in 47 games for the Grand Rapids Griffins last season and earned AHL Second All-Star Team honors for the second consecutive year. The 27-year-old winger appeared in 11 games with Detroit, recording four points, and signed a one-year extension in April that makes the upcoming season a contract year. Detroit could give Leonard an extended NHL opportunity this season, though if a full-time role doesn't materialize, the organization may pursue a trade to provide him a permanent NHL spot.
