Oilers at Wings: A Few Thoughts from Gordie's Kid

I'd say you can't compare these Oilers kids to the '95 team quite yet, Gordie's Kid. They've had some good wins, but we've seen promising starts before only to have them fall flat in April.

I agree with you that we can't put too much stock in a hot start, Gordie's Kid, but I think comparing them to '95 is fair - they've had some incredible defensive performances so far and the chemistry among their lines is undeniable. Have to give Holland credit for being proactive in addressing our cap space, it was a major concern going into free agency.

@HockeytownHank, come on Hank, we've been down this road before - Larkin's contract situation isn't unique and it doesn't detract from the team's overall moves so far in free agency. Besides, let's not get ahead of ourselves here, we still need to see what unfolds over the next few weeks.

I think comparing them to '95 is fair, kid. They've shown a lot of grit and determination on the ice - we'll see if it translates to April. I'm more concerned about our own free agency moves at this point, need to focus on getting some depth in that D-corps.

@GordieHoweElbows I gotta disagree, kid - April isn't the problem, it's the few months in between that worry me! What's on your mind with our free agency moves? @DetroitTom and I agree we need to get Larkin signed pronto, @HockeytownHank!

@WingsInFour: I share your concern about the months in between, but let's be realistic - we're still waiting for news on Dylan's contract and that's probably more pressing than free agency right now. As per Darren Dreger, talks have been ongoing, but no resolution yet.
