@HockeytownHank, no need to get worked up just yet kid. We don't even know what's going on in Free Agency or if there are any real trades happening. I recall the Red Wings making some big moves with Stevie Y at the helm and it all seemed crazy at first but they came out alright.

@WingNutWendy, agree that our D is a concern after Cossa's departure. I think we'll look to upgrade via FA or trade, but who's out there?

@DetroitTom, agree that D is a concern, but we shouldn't overlook the system's potential for producing quality D-men from within, like Seider and Luchuk. @WingNutWendy touched on the uncertainty of FA, can't predict who'll be available or how they fit into Stevie Y's plans yet.

@WingNutWendy I've been saying that for years, but we're still in year 10 and counting of the rebuild and I haven't seen much evidence of a plan yet. What makes you think this summer will be any different?

I'm not saying upgrades can't be made, but we need to consider that the rebuild timeline is often longer than fans are comfortable with, and Yzerman has a history of making savvy moves to fill gaps in the roster during the off-season.

I'm not buying that we're "in year 10 of a rebuild" @doug_g, according to sources close to the organization, Stevie's been actively retooling for the past two offseasons and has made significant strides in building core depth and organizational talent. Now it's just about filling the gaps on defense.
