The Capitals lost to the Red Wings 3-2 in a shootout on Saturday at Detroit's Joe Louis Arena, falling behind 2-0 early in the second period before rallying with late goals to force overtime and the shootout. Washington will play the Rangers on Sunday at Madison Square Garden in a nationally televised matinee, less than 24 hours after returning from their bye week. Detroit improved to 7-0 in shootouts this season while Washington fell to 1-5.
