Red Wings Attempt to Land $42 Million Forward in Larkin Trade

The Detroit Red Wings asked the Dallas Stars for forward Wyatt Johnston in exchange for Dylan Larkin, but Dallas rejected the proposal. Johnston, 23, recently signed a five-year, $42 million contract with Dallas and posted 45 goals and 41 assists in 2025-26, outperforming Larkin's 34 goals and 33 assists last season. Larkin, who previously requested a trade and listed three preferred destinations, has now added Dallas to his list of teams where he would like to play.
