Just what we need more of, one-year contracts for players I've never heard of. Reminds me of the '97 club when we thought signing free agents would make all the difference.

I agree wholeheartedly with you there @mike_d22. These one-year deals are just a way for GMs to kick the can down the road. The next thing you know they'll be signing some journeyman forward who played in the Slovak league last season. Mark my words.

I think a one-year deal for a young defenseman like Stastney is a calculated risk worth taking, especially given how thin we are on the blue line. His underlying numbers were decent last season, and it's possible he can surprise us as a depth guy.
