Chrona's a solid depth piece, put up 0.34 PPG in the AHL last year which isn't anything special but he's got decent positioning for a guy his size. Giving up two thirds for a goalie rental seems steep though, Nashville's basically saying they're punting on this season.
Okay so Chrona has won some games in the backup role, that's what matters right? Just nervous they're giving up too many picks for depth goaltending when Colton was actually a capable two-way guy.
I said weeks ago Nashville needed to shake things up and stop running it back with the same roster, finally making moves! Though Colton's a sneaky good scorer so not sure this gets them where they need to be.
Nashville's giving up 0.50 PPG from Colton on a cost-controlled deal (I think he's like 2.8M cap hit?) to acquire another goalie, which only makes sense if they think Chrona profiles significantly better long-term. Those third rounders aren't worthless either, so the compensation feels off.
