Alfredsson hired by Maple Leafs as associate coach
Daniel Alfredsson, a Hall of Famer who is the Ottawa Senators' all-time leading scorer, was hired as an associate coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday. The 53-year-old previously spent three seasons as an assistant coach with the Senators and worked in player development for the organization, and he was also an assistant coach for Sweden at the 2026 Winter Olympics. Alfredsson played 1,246 NHL games with the Senators and Detroit Red Wings from 1995-2014, spending 17 seasons in Ottawa where he set team records with 426 goals, 682 assists, and 1,108 points, and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2022.
