Red Wings made big push to retain Kane, but appears he’s on his way out
The Red Wings made efforts to re-sign Patrick Kane with a standing offer on the table, but Kane appears unlikely to return to the team. Kane enjoyed his time in Detroit and his chemistry with Alex DeBrincat, but Dylan Larkin's likely departure has prompted Kane to seek a better opportunity to win elsewhere, with his hometown Buffalo Sabres appearing to be the most logical destination. The Red Wings signed Viktor Arvidsson to a two-year deal with an average annual value of $5 million to help replace Kane's offensive production.
