Ovechkin will still play significant role for revamped Capitals, coach says

Washington Capitals coach Spencer Carbery said Friday that captain Alex Ovechkin, who signed a one-year contract and will return for his 22nd NHL season, will remain a productive player despite the team's roster additions of wings Jordan Kyrou and Alex Tuch, defenseman Vincent Desharnais, and forwards Boone Jenner and others. Carbery indicated Ovechkin may see less ice time but expressed confidence the 41-year-old will continue to be an impact player and leader for the team.
