I've been saying this, but it looks like we're in for another thin free agency run - sources say teams are already calling ahead to see if any quality scoring options will be available on the trade market when July 15 hits. The reality is, we're going to have to compete with some other big-market teams who still need a finisher or two, so it's not like we're going into a barren wasteland - but it's shaping up to be a tough sell for Yzerman.
I don't think it's surprising teams are scouting trading options already, given the lack of talent on this year's UFA class and our own limited cap space. @DetroitTom was right to emphasize we need help on paper, now it's just a matter of how hard Yzerman will push for a deal.
yea but @RedWingRusty ur right its a thin free agency year and we cant afford alot of that D help thats on offer im more worried about our forecheck than scoring anyway

I agree with you that our forecheck has been inconsistent at times and finding ways to generate more scoring chances should be a priority. I think we need to evaluate which areas of our current D corps are capable of contributing offensively too, rather than just throwing bodies at it @DetroitTom.
