The Daily: Red Wings Not in Position to Try Offer Sheet; Hurlbert Most Underrated in NHL Draft?
The Detroit Red Wings currently lack sufficient cap space to issue an offer sheet for restricted free agents Adam Fantilli or Jason Robertson, as they have approximately $18 million available but need to reserve funds for Simon Edvinsson's re-signing projection of $8.7 million and protect against a potential offer sheet to Edvinsson. Even accounting for Dylan Larkin's contract coming off the books and potential Patrick Kane re-signing costs, the Red Wings would not have enough cap space for a $16 million offer sheet to Fantilli or $15 million to Robertson, and Columbus and Dallas would likely match such offers anyway.
