According to NHL Insider Chris Johnston, there remains a possibility that Patrick Kane could return to the Detroit Red Wings for next season, with Kane reportedly still open to signing another extension despite being unsigned through the first four days of free agency. Kane has been linked to the Buffalo Sabres and Toronto Maple Leafs, but per Insider Pierre LeBrun, Kane is "keeping the door open" on a potential third full season in Detroit.
