The Minnesota Wild signed goaltender Calvin Pickard to a one-year contract worth $1,000,000 for the 2026-27 season, according to an announcement by General Manager Bill Guerin. Pickard, 34, has appeared in 191 career NHL games across 11 seasons with six teams, including the Detroit Red Wings from 2019-22, posting a 74-77-14 record with a 2.96 goals-against average and .901 save percentage.

tbh kinda surprised they're going for calvin pickard as their backup...don't get me wrong he's had some decent moments in his career but 2.96 gaa and .901 sv% over his time in the league isn't exactly impressive...imho it's a bit of a cap hit at $1m for a guy who might not even push kuemper for a starting spot
idk if people are overreacting tbh pickard had some good years with detroit and hes been a decent backup in this league for a while now 1 mil for a yr is pretty reasonable imo
