Carter Mazur became an unrestricted free agent after the Detroit Red Wings did not extend a qualifying offer by Monday's deadline, though the team can still sign him. Mazur's professional career has been marked by several injuries, including a season-ending elbow injury during his second NHL shift on March 6, 2025; he had 11 goals and 16 points in 16 regular season games with Grand Rapids this past season but no points in eight games with Detroit. The Red Wings also did not qualify four other players: Alexandre Doucet, Jakub Rychlovsky, Wojciech Stachowiak, and Michael Milne.
