How Larkin uncertainty affects Red Wings entering free agency
Detroit enters free agency with Dylan Larkin still on the roster after he requested a trade, creating uncertainty about roster construction and available cap space. The Red Wings have roughly $29 million in cap space and are targeting a top-six forward, an abrasive bottom-six winger, and possibly a backup goaltender, with a portion earmarked for re-signing Patrick Kane and restricted free agent Simon Edvinsson. General manager Steve Yzerman made no guarantee he would honor Larkin's trade request and deferred questions about the situation at the draft.
