Report: Hurricanes Defenseman Could Leave After Contract Talks Stall

Chatfield's contract negotiations with the Hurricanes have stalled, according to DFO Insider, with no further discussions planned at this time. The team is exploring options for blue line upgrades while Chatfield remains a 30-year-old defenseman with a full no-movement clause. Four of Carolina's five pending free agent defensemen could leave, though the team has extended several players including goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov and forwards Jordan Martinook and Shayne Gostisbehere.
