The Detroit Red Wings selected Victor Plante, brother of Red Wings prospect Max Plante, with the #47 pick in the draft; Plante played for the U.S. National Development Program and will attend University of Minnesota Duluth. In the third round, the Red Wings selected junior goaltender Michola Orsulka to replenish their goaltending stock after trading Sebastian Cossa.
