Allen, Texas Native Lands in Detroit After Red Wings Complete Blockbuster Trade For 23rd Overall Pick
The Detroit Red Wings traded goaltending prospect Sebastian Cossa to the Utah Mammoth for the 23rd overall pick and selected 18-year-old offensive forward JP Hurlbert from Allen, Texas. Hurlbert posted 42 goals and 97 points in 68 games as a WHL rookie with the Kamloops Blazers and won WHL Rookie of the Year. Cossa, a six-foot-six goaltender who recorded a 26-8-4 record with a 2.33 GAA and .915 save percentage in 39 AHL games, will compete for playing time with the Utah Mammoth alongside Karel Vejmelka.
