The Seattle Kraken selected right-handed defenseman Chase Reid from the Soo Greyhounds with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft, marking the first time the franchise has taken a defenseman in the first round. Reid, 18, from Chesterfield, Michigan, recorded 18 goals and 30 assists in 45 games last season and had the second-highest point-scoring rate among OHL defensemen.
