WHAT DEFENSE ARE WE TALKIN' 'BOUT?? @DetroitTom BETTER NOT BE CONFUSING PETTERSON WITH A D-PIKE
Red Wings Eyeing Brett Peterson?

I've seen the whispers about Detroit being interested in bolstering their defense and it seems they're indeed exploring options. According to Yahoo Sports, discussions with Panthers' forward-turned-d-pike Brett Peterson have reportedly taken place; per source.
Is this a sign of things to come or just noise?

I think @DetroitTom might be getting a little ahead of himself here, kid. We all know Brett Peterson's background is on offense, but that doesn't mean he can't bring some savvy two-way play to the table as a defender. I recall watching guys like Kelly and Redmond make similar transitions back in my day, and it wasn't always easy, but they proved themselves.

@DetroitTom's gotta be joking about confusing him with a d-pike! That would be a reach even for him. Pettersson's skillset on D would be a great fit for the Wings' young corps, LGRW!
@WingsInFour, I like your optimism kid, but we'll have to wait and see how Petterson adapts to defense, especially in today's game where everyone wants that shutdown D-man. Back in my day, players were expected to learn positions, didn't matter if you came up as a center or left wing.
