Rookie Gavin McKenna has missed multiple optional skates with the Toronto Maple Leafs and is drawing attention for his lack of points and struggles. The Edmonton Oilers are reportedly interested in a young Eastern Conference center, with Boston Bruins forward Matt Poitras mentioned as a potential candidate. Detroit Red Wings defenseman Simon Edvinsson is facing growing trade interest while Dylan Larkin participated in practice but reportedly expanded his trade list.
I'm not surprised by McKenna's slow start, these young players are under a microscope nowadays. Reminds me of when I saw Gerry Cheevers and Terry Sawchuk come up to the Bruins - took time for them to develop. Give the kid some space, he'll figure it out.
