The Anaheim Ducks defeated the Florida Panthers 3-2 in their season opener, with Mikael Granlund scoring the overtime winner after Brad Marchand tied the game in the third period. Marchand, returning from an offseason lower-body injury, scored on a rebound with Florida's goalie Jacob Markstrom pulled for the extra skater. Cutter Gauthier had two power-play goals and an assist, while Leo Carlsson contributed three assists for Anaheim.
