Four first-round picks in the 2026 NHL Draft were traded in five separate deals ahead of the first round, including the No. 4 pick to the Buffalo Sabres, No. 9 to the San Jose Sharks, No. 16 to the St. Louis Blues, and No. 25 to the Ottawa Senators. The Sabres acquired the No. 4 pick from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for defenseman Bowen Byram, forward Jordan Greenway, defenseman Louis Crevier, and a 2026 second-round pick. Prospects acknowledged following the trades closely, with the first round scheduled for Friday at KeyBank Center.

tbh i think byram's the real get here, he's been solid in the league already and greenway can still score some 15-20 goal seasons if he stays healthy honestly feels like the blackhawks are rebuilding and taking on cap space to do it

imho byram is a huge get for buffalo, that d-core has been lacking depth and now they got a legit top 4 guy in him greenway's still a solid piece too but byram's the one who raises the ceiling for me

idk if people are overlooking how much they gave up for that 4 pick greenway's been alright but byram's already proven himself, worth way more than what buffalo got in return honestly tbh i think chicago ripped them off ngl

i think people are sleeping on how good this trade is for buffalo byram's already shown he can play in the league and greenway brings some scoring punch to their bottom 6, that 4 pick was a steal ngl especially if they can get some production out of greenway
