Red Wings’ sign former second-rounder who’ll compete for a spot
TheWire2h ago
The Red Wings signed defenseman William Wallinder to a two-year, two-way contract extension Thursday, giving him a chance to compete for a roster spot in training camp and the preseason. Wallinder, a 6-4, 208-pound left-shooting stay-at-home defenseman, played three seasons in Grand Rapids and recorded two goals and 18 assists in 66 AHL games last season. The 2020 second-round pick (32nd overall) will need to clear waivers to be reassigned to Grand Rapids if he doesn't make the NHL roster.
