The Detroit Red Wings have been able to work around Simon Edvinsson's contract situation during training camp, but the deadline is approaching. Edvinsson, who is 23 years old, has been participating in practices under a professional tryout agreement since his entry-level contract expired. The team will finish their preseason schedule against the Columbus Blue Jackets and begin the regular season on October 2 against the New York Rangers.
