The Detroit Red Wings assigned 17 players to the Grand Rapids Griffins and released four players from professional tryouts. The team's preseason roster is now limited to 28 players, including 16 forwards, nine defensemen, and three goaltenders. The Red Wings will conclude their preseason schedule with a home game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on September 26 at Little Caesars Arena.
