Defenseman Mattias Samuelsson was injured blocking a shot during a preseason game on September 22 and will be out week to week with a lower-body injury. Fellow defenseman Olen Zellweger is in concussion protocol after being hit by Carson Soucy. The Sabres have eight healthy defensemen available for the NHL group.
